The Troup American 9-10-year-old all-stars are on the cusp of a state championship.

After going 3-0 in pool play last week, Troup American will be back in Manchester for the double-elimination portion of the state tournament this weekend.

There are four teams remaining, and they’ll fight it out for the state title and the accompanying invitation to the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series.

All four teams will be in action today at 7 p.m.

Troup American will play Wrens, while Swainsboro will face Perry.

There will be two more games at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the winners meeting in one game, and the losers facing off in the other game.

The two one-loss teams will meet on Saturday at 1 p.m., and after that game only two teams will remain.

The championship game will be Sunday at 1 p.m.

Troup American has been rolling along this summer.

In the district tournament, Troup American fell to 1-1 after losing to Troup National, but it won four consecutive games after that.

Troup American continued the hot play in pool play last week with a 3-0 record, and it won those three games by a combined score of 35-4.

If Troup American prevails this weekend, it will participate in the Dixie Youth World Series in Lumberton, N.C. in August.
