Ronald “Ron” Victor Leon Pauley

Ronald “Ron” Victor Leon Pauley, age 75, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at Hospice LaGrange. Mr. Pauley was born Aug. 3, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of the late Victor Pauley and Hazel Corbin Pauley. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Wade Aaron Pauley; sisters, Virginia Patterson, Violet Corbin, Ivy Oxley and Shirley Krabacher.

After graduating from Milford High School in 1960, Mr. Pauley served in the United States Navy for three years.  He graduated from Iowa State University in the Spring of 1971.  Moving to LaGrange in 1978 from Nevada, Iowa, as the plant manager of Darworth Company and later Nyman Manufacturing, Mr. Pauley was a dedicated leader in the LaGrange Industrial Park. He later started his own business, LaGrange Fire Protection Services and retired in 2013. He was an avid Granger fan and supporter of LaGrange High athletics including serving as bookkeeper for the LHS basketball team and bus driver for the LHS athletic teams for 20 years. He had many special friends in the noon basketball league where he played for 30 years, Baptist +2 Supper Club, and the morning coffee club.

Mr. Pauley was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church and served as council president. 

He was very active in the community and served on many organizations including City Council Member in Nevada, Iowa, Gridiron Club, Noon Basketball League, Project LOVE Board, United Way Board, Chamber of Commerce, LIFE Committee, Troup Leadership, Camp Dogwood volunteer and Compassionate Friends.

Mr. Pauley was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary, and was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.  He loved fishing and hunting, enjoyed annual family vacations to the beach, teaching his children and grandchildren to play pitch and cribbage, traveling with friends and countless card games with his Iowa friends.  Mr. Pauley was always kind, smiling and joking with his family and friends and was always teaching skills and life lessons to his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Olinger Pauley; children, Doug (Jayne) Pauley and Mike (Lynn) Pauley; grandchildren, Matt, Kim, Jake (Sarah), Ryan, Emily, Will, and Annie Pauley; siblings, Doris Pauley (Earl) Otto, Geri Pauley Biederman; and several nieces and nephews.

A Private burial at Shadowlawn Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Loyd Presbyterian Church, 550 Glass Bridge Rd.  LaGrange, GA 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27. Visitation and reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.  The Rev. Jeff Lingle, the Rev. MinChan Park, and the Rev. Dr. Sandie Johnson to officiate.  A memorial service will also be held in Nevada, Iowa on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church.
