Rape suspect arrested

A LaGrange man accused of rape was arrested Tuesday evening.

Roderick Kacel Williams, 40, was arrested Tuesday at approximately 4:38 p.m. at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, according to a LaGrange Police Department press release. Williams had been wanted since July 10, when warrants were issued for his arrest following an alleged sexual assault that started at Daewon America on Piedmont Circle.

According to the press release, Williams assaulted a 32-year-old female at Daewon and forced her to leave by knifepoint. The victim was transported to another, unspecified location in Troup County where a sexual assault allegedly occurred, according to LPD.

According to the press release, Williams and the victim had a previous relationship.

Early in the investigation, officers tried to contact Williams at Daewon, but he fled the scene.

According to arrest/release reports from the Troup County Jail, Williams is charged with rape-strong arm, kidnapping-adult, aggravated assault-knife/cutting tool and probation violation superior. His bond was denied and he was in the Troup County Jail on Wednesday.
