Rock removal begins week of July 29 at LaGrange-Callaway Airport

Troup County citizens shouldo be aware of rock removal (blasting) operations taking place on LaGrange-Callaway Airport property.

The blasting will occur randomly during the anticipated two week period of July 29th through Aug. 12 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The blasting will take place on the runway extension project near the intersection of Pegasus Parkway and West Point Road.

It was determined that blasting was necessary after the contractor, Peed Bros., Inc., exposed hard rock that could not be adequately removed without the careful application of a blasting catalyst. Peed Bros. subcontracted the blasting operation to Controlled Blasting of Winder, Georgia.

The blasting will be completed safely with minimal disturbance in accordance with the many state and federal laws and regulations that apply.  It is anticipated that the operation will not impede the everyday activities of the local community.

The project is expected to be completed by Aug. 12.  To keep up with the latest news involving Troup County, go to troupcountyga.org.
