Mr. Larry Wayne Scott, Sr., 68, of LaGrange, Georgia, peacefully passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, surrounded by family.

Mr. Scott was born April 17, 1950, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Willie A. Scott and Rachel Scott Lawhorn. He faithfully attended Davidson Baptist Church and Pineview Baptist Church, unless he was invited to sing elsewhere.

Prior to his illness, Larry was active in nursing home ministry, singing to the residents. He worked for a number of years at Mid-south Mechanical as a millwright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Geneva Scott Mabry, Mary Francis Scott and Jerry Scott; brother-in-law, Peewee Price; and a grandchild, Larry James Scott.

Survivors include his children, Joel (Misti) Scott Sr., James (Diane) Ellis, Wayne (Tammy) Scott, Lamar (Holly) Scott, Shane Scott, and Robert Scott; brother, William “Bill” (Barbara) Scott; sister, Peggy Price; sister-in-law, Bridget Scott; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, with the Rev. Howard Longshore and the Rev. Joel Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
