MOBILE, Ala. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District West Point Project, announced that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon EST to ensure public safety as contractors complete security maintenance. 

According to the corps, any motorists use West Point Dam Road in their daily commute across the Chattahoochee River, and the closure may add to their travel time. There will be signs located at each end of the road to notify the public of its accessibility. 

Alternate routes across the river are U.S. Highway 29 bridge in West Point and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange.
