He’s ready to show the folks in Troup County what he can do.

Last year, Damarco White was an explosive player for Unity Prep Academy, playing on both sides of the ball for a team that made the playoffs in the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association.

Unity Prep was located in East Point last season, but the school has moved to LaGrange for the 2018-2019 school year.

While the geographical change means the roster will have a different look, a handful of players will be making the move to the new location.

Among those players remaining with the school is White, who’ll be a defensive back and wide receiver for Unity Preparatory Academy of West Georgia.

“I’m looking forward to it a lot,” White said. “I’m willing to teach people that don’t play football. I can teach them a lot, because I’ve been playing since I was 7. I can teach them a whole bunch of stuff, like footwork, and everything else.”

Dra Bray, Unity Prep’s first-year head coach, is eager to see what White can do this fall.

Bray has worked with White throughout the summer, and he’s expecting big things.

“He’s going to put up some big numbers on offense,” Bray said. “How I’ve got to set up, he’s going to do big things. He might be the best player in the whole league.”

Bray said that White will be a wide receiver and defensive back, and he could also take some snaps at quarterback.

“He’s working every day,” Bray said. “I’m glad that I have him.”

White will be a busy man at Unity Prep.

If there is a sport that’s offered, chances are he’ll be playing it.

“I’ve played every sport but soccer,” White said. “I played football, baseball, I ran track. I like doing all that.”

Unity Prep has a preseason game on Aug. 10, and it will open the season on Aug. 18 at John Hancock.

Unity Prep will play its first home game on Sept. 7 against Douglasville, and the game will be played at Hendrix Field in Hogansville.

Unity Prep will be a Class AA school in the GICAA, and Bray said the goal is to be the last team standing.

“I think we’ve got what it takes to win a state championship,” Bray said.
