Charlie H. “Penny” Jones passed away Friday.

He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia to Charlie and Johnnie Mae Jones.

He was a member of St. James CME Church, graduated from East Depot High School, class of 1962 and served in the US Army for 30 years and the LaGrange Housing Authority.

Survivors include his children, Donovan Leon Jones and Kevin Terrone Jones; daughter-in-law, Maria Lynn Jones; five grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Stephens, Minister Charyle Jones and Gloria Jones Poole; stepmother, Tonie Mae Jones-Clarke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Beverly McNair, Gary and Maria Whitfield, William, Whitfield, Carolyn Thomas; nieces and nephews; and life-long friend, Mr. Jacks Dallas.

The service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. James CME Church. The excellent care of Mr. Jones is being provided by Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
