CEDARTOWN – They had the bats working.

The LaGrange Lady Grangers banged out 14 hits, one of which was a home run by Madison Dennis, on the way to an 11-6 victory over Cedartown on Tuesday in the Region 5-AAAA opener for both teams.

Dennis did a lot of the damage for LaGrange with three hits and four RBIs, and she capped the scoring with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

Abby Vanhoose had two hits, including a triple, and she drove in a run.

Destiny Fitzpatrick had a pair of doubles and an RBI, Hannah Karcher had a double and two RBIs, Katelynn Mobley had two doubles, Zykeria Brewer had a hit and an RBI, and Malone Aldridge had two hits and a walk with two runs scored.

Camden Smith started and pitched the first six innings to get the win, and Macee Stone threw a scoreless seventh inning to finish it.

After scoring a single run in the first inning, LaGrange broke it open with five runs in the top of the second.

Cedartown hung tough, though, and it was within three heading to the seventh inning.

Needing some insurance, LaGrange got it when Dennis drove the ball over the outfield fence for the two-run blast.

LaGrange (7-1 overall) will visit Bowdon today before returning to region play on Aug. 21 against Troup.
