Richard Henry Blalock “Rick” Mallory Jr., age 64, of LaGrange, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018.  

Rick was born Sept. 7, 1953, in Landstuhl, West Germany, the son of Richard H. B. Mallory, Sr. and Georgia Frances Hammett Mallory.  Rick was a sixth generation resident of Troup County. He attended the Troup County Public School System and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1971. He went on to attend Valdosta State College where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and graduated in 1975 with a degree in business administration. Rick started his career in the family insurance business in 1975 and was currently the C.E.O. of The Mallory Agency. He held the professional titles of certified insurance counselor and certified work compensation advisor.  He had many professional accomplishments to include that he was a founding member and former board member of Secure Risk Insurance Solutions.

Rick was civically and culturally involved in the community.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square where he was a former Sunday school teacher. Some of his accomplishments included that he was a board member of the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority, a former board member of Young Life, past chairman of the Troup County Heart Association; member and former president of the LaGrange Lions Club; and was the 2014 Volunteer of the Year for the West Georgia Health Foundation. He was a member of the LaGrange Gridiron Club and the Highland Country Club.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and also his sister, Diana Frances Mallory. He is survived by his wife, Dale L. Mallory; a daughter, Joanna M. Dowd (Aaron); a son, Matthew H. Mallory (Amanda); five grandchildren, Jackson Henry Mallory, McRae Catherine Mallory, Mattie Dale Mallory, Aaron Higgons Dowd III and Garrett Benjamin Dowd; a sister, Georgia M. Fortner (Ken); and three brothers, Paul S. Mallory (Jan), William L. Mallory and Robert W. Mallory (Heidi).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church on the Square. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the First Baptist Church on the Square, 100 Broad Street, LaGrange, Georgia 30240; or to the Biblical Antiquity Center, 130 Gordon Commercial Dr, LaGrange, Georgia 30240 in memory of Richard Henry Mallory Jr.
