Cartersville had no answer for Troup’s Skye Loftin.

Loftin, Troup’s junior third baseman, had a monster effort at the plate to lead her team to an 11-4 victory over Cartersville in the first game of a Region 5-AAAA doubleheader on Saturday.

Loftin had three hits, including a home run, and she drove in six runs.

Troup was trailing 4-1 when it exploded for five runs in the fifth inning and five more runs in the sixth.

In the top of the fifth, Troup was still down by a run when Loftin stepped to the plate and drove the ball over the left-field fence for a three-run home run.

Loftin knocked in three more runs in the sixth inning with a bases-loaded double.

Kayla Lane had a double and two RBIs, and Madison McCartney had a base hit and one RBI.

Avery Pearson, Casey Sani and Makenzie Miller each had a hit.

Pearson threw a seven-inning complete game to get the win.

In the second game, Troup was unable to get anything going at the plate, and Cartersville won 5-0 to split the twinbill.

Lane and Sani had Troup’s only hits.

Pearson started and pitched the first six innings, and Miller threw the seventh inning.

Troup (5-7 overall) will carry a 2-1 region record into Tuesday’s showdown against LaGrange.

LaGrange is 1-0 in the region after beating Cedartown last week.
