Mary Frances Hawkins

Mary Frances Hawkins, 66, of LaGrange, Georgia, was ushered into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family and friends early Friday morning from WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.

Mary was born Dec. 30, 1951, in Hogansville, Georgia, daughter of Lillie Annette Kelley White and the late John Clayton White. She was a graduate of Troup High School Class of 1970. Mary worked in several venues throughout her working career, but her toughest and proudest achievement was raising her two boys as a single mom. She was a charter member of Independent Church of Worship and loved listening to gospel music. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her mother, Lillie Annette White; sons, Joseph Keith (Tabitha) Bailey and Jerry E. (Carla) Scarborough; grandchildren, Alexander Keith “Alex” Bailey, Allison Paige “Allie” Bailey, Joseph Clayton “Clay” Scarborough; Priscilla Lynn “Cilla” Scarborough and Seth Alan Walker; sister, Lillie (Ronnie) Fuller; several cousins, a niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home. The celebration of life service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Pastor Jerry Scarborough and the Rev. Lillie Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
