Is this their week?

The LaGrange Grangers have done some positive things the first two weeks of the season, hanging tough with two of Class AA’s top teams in Heard County and Callaway.

LaGrange came up short in both games, though, and a losing streak that extends to the 2016 season reached 17 games in the process.

LaGrange will try to put an end to that streak when it hits the road on Friday to take on Hampton.

Hampton (1-1), which like LaGrange is a Class AAAA school, opened with a 15-7 win over Fayette County before losing to Sandy Creek 38-7.

LaGrange kicked off its season with a hard-fought 10-3 loss to Heard County before losing to Callaway 14-0 last week.

If LaGrange wins this week, it would be its first victory since the fifth game of the 2015 season when it beat Central-Carroll 30-12.

Also on Friday, the Callaway Cavaliers and Troup Tigers will look to remain unbeaten with road wins.

Callaway (2-0), after home wins over Opelia and LaGrange, will be at Adams Stadium in  DeKalb County to face a winless Cross Keys squad.

Cross Keys (0-3) has been outscored by a combined score of 155-12, and it lost to Social Circle 62-0 last week.

Troup (2-0), which thumped Columbus 47-14 last week to stay perfect after opening with a win over Ridgeland, will visit Harris County on Friday. Harris County is 0-3, but it has dropped three consecutive games.

Harris County opened with a 20-16 setback to Carver, and it followed that up with a 27-24 overtime loss to Westside, and a 33-28 loss to Upson-Lee.

In private-school football, Lafayette Christian School (2-1) will attempt to bounce back from its first loss of the season when it travels to Macon to play Covenant Academy on Friday.

Unity Preparatory Academy of West Georgia (1-1) will play its home opener on Friday against the Unbreakable Knights.

Unity Prep will play its home games at Hendrix Field in Hogansville.
