Future leaders in youth council

In Thursday’s edition of The LaGrange Daily News, we wrote about 24 local high school students being inducted into the LaGrange Youth Council.

The youth council is an advisory board who will give advice to the City of LaGrange. The council gives local students a say in the decision making process of city government.

The council is composed of students from LaGrange High School, Lafayette Christian School  and LaGrange Academy.

The Youth Council is a great way for students to get involved in the community. These are our future leaders, even if they do not stay in LaGrange. They get to watch city council meetings and see how decisions are made for the city. The  local government is preparing them for how to compromise, how to legislate and representing others.

Through the youth council, city leaders also gets a chance to interact with the youth of the community. Local leaders get to learn what matters to these students and impart their wisdom on them.

We wish these 24 students good luck and know they will do well.
