Threatening messages were sent to The LaGrange Daily News via Facebook Messenger Monday evening that brought prompt response from the LaGrange Police Department. The messages were sent to the newspaper from an account that has since been deleted from Facebook, but rose to the level of terroristic threats, a felony.

“We take messages of this nature very seriously,” Publisher Baker Ellis said. “Any individual attempting to instill fear in the hearts and minds of our employees will be met with a swift and appropriate response. Our sincere thanks goes out to the LaGrange Police Department for their prompt and efficient handling of this incident and we look forward to a quick resolution.”

The messages made claims that an individual was en route to the newspaper office with the intent to “blow the office up,” at which point the LPD was notified and began coordinating with employees of the newspaper.
