The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf tournament will not require a mulligan, since between great weather and great turnout everyone seemed to be having fun on the course on Thursday.

The 23 teams took part in the Mulligan’s Island Golf Tournament on Thursday at The Fields Golf Club. The proceeds from the event slated to benefit chamber programs, like its small business initiatives, and the tournament encouraged chamber members to get to know one another.

“It was the perfect day for networking, great golf and lots of fun at The Fields,” said Page Estes, the president of the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. “Our annual golf classic is an opportunity for us (the Chamber) to say ‘thank you’ to our corporate sponsors and for our members to have the opportunity to network with those sponsors and other businesses.”

The annual tournament provides a chance for chamber members to network on the golf course, while spotlighting sponsors.

“It is a thank you to our sponsors,” said Renae Willis, the vice president of business development for the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. “… We have a lot of businesses who have what we call business on the tee. They have tents, and they are serving food and drinks and [have] fun things.”

A variety of local businesses set up tents at tees to provide refreshment for participants, and Great Wolf Lodge sponsored the lunch.

“It has been a great day of meeting new companies in the local area and a great opportunity for networking for the golfers and for the sponsors,” said Cat MacLaughlin, from MAU Workforce Solutions.

“We are just happy to support the chamber.”

Participants also enjoyed fun variations on their regular golf game.

“People love [the kilt hole], and a lot of people prepaid,” said Anna Willis, a member of HYPE.

Knox Pest control won first place in the tournament. Malone Workforce Solutions took second, and Calumet Bank took third.

Brandon Brooks from Malone Workforce Solutions was the closest to the pin winner. Trammell Coleman from the Calumet Bank Team was the longest drive contest winner.
