Between Friday and Saturday, the Junior Service League of LaGrange raised around $30,000 to support local projects through its 44th annual attic sale.

The funds raised at the attic sale are used to support a variety of local causes, and JSL remains an active part of the community year-round.

“All the proceeds go to help fund other events in the community that we do,” said Katie Henderson, president of the JSL. “This year we are doing a blanket drive with the homeless coalition. We have already done a book drive with BLOCKS of West Georgia, and we are also doing a diaper drive for First Choice Women’s Center — that is the pregnancy center. The attic sale helps fund those type things.”

The JSL also plans to continue hosting Taste of the Town and Super Saturdays at the LaGrange Art Museum.

Because the JSL collects a new batch of items for the Attic Sale every year, everything from the children’s clothes to a 2000 Honda Odyssey van were donated during the last few months. JSL members spent countless hours sorting those donations, so that when the doors opened Friday, shoppers were able to easily find furniture, dishware, décor and more.

“There are countless hours of hard work that go into this, and we wouldn’t be able to do it without our members and our sustainers,” Henderson said.
