The Lafayette Christian School Cougars are rested and ready for the home stretch.

Lafayette Christian was off last week, and it will get back at it with today’s home game against Calvary Christian from Columbus.

Lafayette Christian (4-3 overall) had won two in a row before losing to Sherwood Christian 40-14 on Sept. 28.

Lafayette Christian will look to get back on the winning track against Calvary Christian, which has won two in a row and is 4-3.

In the Sherwood Christian game, Lafayette Christian senior quarterback Landon Whitley had a terrific game on the ground, running for 190 yards on 19 attempts with two touchdowns.

The day mostly belonged to Sherwood Christian, though, which followed up the win over Lafayette Christian by beating Fullington Academy 80-39.

After today, Lafayette Christian closes the regular season with a pair of critical region games.

Lafayette Christian, which is 2-0 in region play, visits Fullington Academy on Oct. 19 before hosting Hancock Academy in its regular-season finale on Nov. 2.

If Lafayette Christian finishes first or second in its region, it will qualify for the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state playoffs.
