A lot of events are going on this weekend around Troup County including the annual Hummingbird Festival in Hogansville. The 21st annual event will be held in downtown Hogansville on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Festival co-organizer Mary Stewart said they are expecting 18,000 to 20,000 people this weekend. Stewart said the city is “dressed up and ready for visitors.”

“One of our secrets is we try not to have too many of the same products,” Stewart said. “Everybody does well, and I always say you don’t have a festival if you don’t have vendors.”

Stewart said there will be more than 200 craft vendors and more than 40 food vendors, a children’s area for rides and games and live music.

The proceeds of the event go toward the Hogansville Charitable Trust, a nonprofit that helps fund for the preservation of Hogansville. Stewart said the trust is expecting to break records this year with how much they raise.

“All indications are, with our sponsorships and sales of ads, and we have a record number of vendors that’s participating, we expect to break records this year,” Stewart said.

On Saturday is the LaGrange Fire Department’s annual citizen day. LFD Deputy Chief John Brant said visitors can get to ride in the fire trucks, get free blood pressure checks and take part in giveaways.

There will also be a fire safety house, competitions for children and the rookies taking part in the LFD’s rookie school.

The citizen day event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at LaGrange Mall on Lafayette Parkway.

If you like beer and music, the third annual Sweetland Craft Beer and Music Festival will be held at Sweetland Amphitheatre from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

More than 45 local, regional and national breweries will be featured, and hundreds of drinks including craft sodas, tea and kombucha will also be featured.

Tickets are $35 online, $40 at the gate and $12 for listening to music only. Tickets can be purchased at Freshtix.com/events/sweetlandbeerfestival.

If you like local radio, the 12th annual Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Induction Awards will be held at Callaway Conference Center Saturday night.

The hall of fame moved to LaGrange this year from St. Marys.

Dress is semi-formal for women and coat and tie for men.

The reception will be held at 5 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.
