Mrs. Opal Wylene Erquitt Smith, age 82, of LaGrange, passed away on Oct. 23, 2018, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice.  Mrs. Smith was born in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Mr. Arlice David (A.D.) Erquitt and Mrs. Essie Mae Cantrell Erquitt.  

She worked for 27 years at Playtex and another 17 years at the Clark-Holder Clinic before retirement.  She was a long-time member of the East Vernon Baptist Church.  

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith; brother, Darzell Erquitt; and sisters, Cornelia Daniel and LaUna Townsend.

Survivors include son, Terry J. Smith (Sandra); daughter, Shirlynn Skipper (“Skip” Ken); grandchildren, Brant Skipper (Shannon), Angie Zerkle (Brent), Kristie Smith, Sherrie Rudolphi (Todd), Fallon Wells (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Katlynn, Cidney, Carson, Garrett, Jackson, Josie-Rose; one great-great grandchild on the way. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at East Vernon Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the church from noon until service hour. Family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
