Bluffton Funeral Services respectfully announces the passing of Edward Hamilton Linch Jr. on Oct 25, 2018.

A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Oct. 28, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. (visitation following) at First Baptist Church Shawmut (2300 23rd Dr, Valley, AL 36854). The Reverends Chuck Anderson, David Bradshaw and Wales Goebel will officiate.

Edward Hamilton “Eddie” Linch Jr., 80, was born on March 7, 1938, in West Point, Georgia, to the late Kate Mathews Linch and Edward Hamilton Linch Sr.  Eddie grew up in West Point and LaGrange, Georgia. He was an eagle scout, graduated LaGrange High School in 1956, and then the University of Georgia in 1960 with a degree in business administration. Linch served in the Naval Air Reserve from 1961 to 1967. He was self-employed with his parents and brother at Linch’s Appliance in West Point for over 40 years.

Eddie was a deacon and elder at Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett and the Church of the Resurrection in West Point.  He was on steering committee for the Valley Youth for Christ and the Sav-A-Life ministry. In addition, he was on the board of Wales Goebel Ministries in Birmingham and was instrumental in the establishment and development of the Cry of Africa ministry in Zimbabwe, Africa. He loved traveling with his wife to Africa where they focused on helping others in need.

His mission in life was that others may know Christ in a personal relationship.  Eddie will best be remembered for his abiding faith in Jesus Christ. He lived his life as one with a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. Eddie was bold about what he believed and was unafraid to express his thoughts. There was no doubt, Eddie Linch was absolutely certain of his faith and “wanted that security for everyone.”

Eddie is survived by his wife, Joyce Harris Linch; sons Edward “Ned” Hamilton Linch III (Linda) and Neal Scott Linch (Paula); his brother Kelly Richard Linch (Carole); and nephews Scott Edward Linch (Amanda) and Alan Denton Linch (Erin).  His grandchildren include Lee Harris Linch, Kelley Wittenberg Violante (Keith), John Hamilton Linch (Ashley), Brian Michael Wittenberg, Sarah Scott Linch, Caroline Elizabeth Linch, Lützi Schlafli Linch, and Günter Switzer Linch.  He is preceded in death by his nephew Kelly Richard Linch Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Overseas Mission Fellowship (OMF)  at Partnerhub.omf.org.
