Pleasant Grove United Methodist’s sanctuary will once again be decorated with beautiful quilts on Saturday at the 37^th annual Quilt Show, Sale and Bazaar.

The annual event will feature fried pies, barbecue plates, homemade soup, a variety of crafts and a drawing for a handmade quilt sewn by the Pleasant Grove Quilters. Roughly a dozen craft booths are expected to take part in this year’s event.

“It is going to be a pretty day, so come and join us,” said Carol Cadenhead, one of the six members of the Pleasant Grove Quilters. “… We have a good variety of craft booths with different items. We have candles and Christmas items and wood items and canned goods and some crocheted items.”

New to the event this year be children’s activities.

“We are going to have some activities for the kids this year with a slide and some games for the kids,” Cadenhead said. “We haven’t done that before, and we thought maybe that would be good for the children.”

Of course, the highlight of the annual event will be the quilts on display in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church’s sanctuary.

“The quilt show — you can’t even explain how pretty all those quilts are spread out there in the sanctuary,” Cadenhead said.

The Pleasant Grove quilters are currently looking for more members. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to take part in the group’s weekly meeting on Tuesdays beginning at 10 a.m.

“It is a lot of fun, especially if you’ve ever sewn, and the fellowship with each other [is great],” Cadenhead said. “We help with a lot of projects for the church and with missionaries.”

Funds raised by the event will benefit charitable causes. In past years, funds raised by the bazaar have helped fund Operation Christmas Child, the replacement of tiles in the church ceiling and a variety of other projects.

The bazaar will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The drawing for the quilt will take place a 2 p.m.
