Melanie Starr, 72, of Pine Mountain, Georgia, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at St. Francis Medical Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.

Mrs. Starr was born Sept. 30, 1946, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Hoyt Augustas Starr, Jr. and Ruth Helen Woodard Starr.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and retired from Mersk Shipping Lines as a freight auditor.

She was affiliated with Toast Masters and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her sister, Phyllis (Richard) Turner; nephews, Brandon (Trullsa) Turner Sr., Justin (Rebecka) Turner, Austin (Nikki) Starr; niece, Dannielle (Jeff) Cannon; grand nieces and nephews, Brandon Michael Turner Jr, Lorean Bailey Turner, Abigail McBrayer, Daniel McBrayer, Larsson Turner, Olivia Carson, Autumn Slate, Sage Slate, Ava Starr, Adlee Starr, Asher Starr; cousins, Rick (Terri) Starr, Jack (Debbie) Starr, Donna (Kenneth) Thompson, Jennifer Sharmin, and numerous cousins of the Woodard family.

The gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, in Meadoway Gardens with the Rev. Larry Byrd officiating.
