Man shot in reported robbery attempt on Keyes Street

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating after a man was shot in a reported robbery attempt.

According to a press release, the LPD responded to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in reference to a person with gunshot wounds on Sunday at 9:23 p.m.

Officers met with the victim, who said he was sitting in his vehicle on the 100 block of Keyes Street at 8:45 p.m., waiting on a family member to arrive. He told police that an unknown black male, possibly 16 to 18 years old, opened the door to his vehicle and told him to give him what he had.

The victim told police he was shot while in his vehicle, and a struggle ensued. The suspect fled the scene on foot and the victim drove himself to a family member’s home and was taken to the hospital, according to the press release.

The alleged suspect was approximately 5-foot-7 inches tall, had a distinctive space between his front teeth, light complexion and was wearing a sweat suit.

The case remains under investigation.
