Enjoying the holiday season in downtown

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in LaGrange. After the Christmas season started with the downtown Christmas parade, a slew of other holiday traditions and activities are being held right up until Dec. 25. All these activities bring out the seasonal best in people, and come back to how special this community is.

The Downtown LaGrange Development Authority hosts many of these events, from downtown carriage rides, Santa and mini carriage rides at Lafayette Square, selfie with elfie and hosting Sweetland on Ice. Other than ice skating, these events are free for the community and are a way to get in the Christmas spirit. Ice skating costs only $12 for two hours, and has local vendors.

The Woman’s Club of LaGrange hosted its annual Christmas tea, a tradition for local women to pass on to the next generation, last weekend at Bellevue. Hills & Dales Estate will hold it Christmas event for children on Dec. 15, inviting people to visit the historic home and make family memories.

The classic ballet, “The Nutcracker,” has also already been featured, and will be performed again in LaGrange. The Lafayette Ballet Company just wrapped performances last weekend, and the Royal Academy of Dance will hold its production next weekend. And of course, all of the local choirs, from the Young Singers of West Georgia to Sons of Lafayette, are holding Christmas concerts. These concerts are often low cost, and offer secular to religious songs, can get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Not all communities have an abundance of activities like LaGrange does in the holiday season. Make sure to partake in these events before they are over.
