The LaGrange Animal Shelter is the cat’s meow with its first Cat Palooza adoption event.

The animal shelter is encouraging residents to adopt 18 cats they have had available since September this month.

“We just have several cats at the shelter that are on the Cat Palooza for $16,” said Chris Bussey, the LaGrange Animal Shelter supervisor. “They’ve been there for at least a couple of months, and I know some of them have been there since Hurricane Florence and they’ve not found their forever home yet.”

The LaGrange Animal Shelter took in about 50 cats from the Hilton Head Humane Society on Sept. 13. The animals we’re evacuated due to the incoming hurricane.

Bussey said all of the cats are fixed, up to date on their shots and microchipped.

Bussey said all cats available are nine months and older, short and long haired and come in a variety of colors.

“There are a lot of cats we have right now for adoption, and we’re just trying to find them homes before we reach out to our rescue partners on Puppy Pipeline to see if any of the northern shelters are in any need of any cats or kittens right now,” Bussey said.

Bussey said they have held similar adoption events with the shelter’s dogs.

“We’re looking at possibly next month or even February if we want to do something special for the dogs with Valentine’s Day coming up,” Bussey said.

Cat Palooza is being held until Dec. 23. The LaGrange Animal Shelter is located at 1390 Orchard Hill Road, in LaGrange. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
