Bro. Marion E. Hammond, age 80, of Roanoke, passed away on Dec. 10, 2018, at the WellStar West Georgia Hospice.  

Bro. Marion was born on Oct. 26, 1938, in Neoga, Illinois, to Leonard Hammond and Lyndall Sparling Hammond.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sons, Phillip Jones and Al Jones, and his wife, Peggy Hammond.  His mother survives him as well as his daughters, Linda Pressley (Rich), Atha Hawley (Bob), Rhonda Allen (Tony) and Debbie Sewell (Frank); brother, Keith Hammond; fiancé, Louise Pool; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with one on the way; extended family and friends. 

Bro. Marion faithfully served his country in the United States Army. In addition, he owned and operated Hammond’s Wood Shop and was a faithful Minister of the Gospel. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with Bro. Lynn McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the New Hope Baptist Church in Fredonia, Alabama.
