Mr. Charles E. Tarwater, 74, of LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at his home.

Mr. Tarwater was born June 9, 1944, in Opelika, Alabama, son of the late Will Tarwater, Jr. and Sara Berry Tarwater. A resident of LaGrange most of his life, he was a member and deacon of Dunson Baptist Church and retired from Fluor-Daniel Construction Co. after 38 years of service. Mr. Tarwater enjoyed being outdoors and loved to fish.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Frances Tarwater of LaGrange; daughter, Cathy Hand of LaGrange; son, Charles Tarwater Jr. of Savannah;  seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Folds.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, at Dunson Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Cole and the Rev. Aaron McCollough will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday night and at other times will be at the home of Cathy Hand at 213 N. Barnard Ave.
