A weekend for Christmas traditions

Some Christmas traditions include taking your children’s photo with Santa.

On Saturday, pet owners can get their fur child’s photo taken with Kris Kringle from noon to 3 p.m. at Wild Leap Brew Co. The LaGrange-Troup County Humane Society is hosting the event as a fundraiser.

“We’ve got a Santa Claus and a cute little backdrop for the animal’s pictures,” sadi Mandi Bono, humane society director. “We’re really excited about it.”

Bono said the event is free, but there’s a suggested donation of $10. Pet owners will get a digital copy of the photo.

Bono said all kinds of pets are welcome to the event.

“There’s so few things in LaGrange that are dog friendly, and this is a chance to get your pet’s photo with Santa and help support a local business in Wild Leap,” Bono said.

Also this weekend, Hills & Dales Estate is holding its annual Children’s Christmas Celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will make gingerbread houses, listen to stories, create ornaments and Santa will make a visit for photos.

There will also be storytime and a sing along at the event.

The event has a high attendance rate, so those interested in participating should arrive early.

If you want to see Tchaikovsky’s classic “The Nutcracker” this weekend, you’re in luck. The Royal Academy School of Dance will perform the ballet at LaGrange High School Fine Arts Auditorium Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

Admission to the performance is free, but donations are welcome.
