City to start sending newsletter

During the last LaGrange City Council meeting of the year, City of LaGrange Marketing and Communications Manager Katie Mercer Van Schoor announced residents will receive newsletters with their utility bills beginning Jan. 1.

“Starting Jan. 1, 2019, we are going to be sending out newsletters in all of our city utility bills communicating much needed information,” Van Schoor said.

“We are going to have all the information that you need like litter pickups, our Leaving LaGrange Better Than We Found It, any kind of events, information on The Thread and city contacts all on here.”

There has been several conversations among city council members over how to get important information to residents who may not have access  to other information sources. After researching what was being done in other cities, Van Schoor announced the launch of this method of communicating with residents.

“We felt like we were leaving out certain aspects of the community,” Van Schoor said. “There is a huge digital divide. Facebook is great, but it is not the only way to communicate, so we decided from feedback from residents who said, ‘I didn’t know about this.’”

The newsletter will also be sent digitally with e-bills and will be available to view at Lagrange-ga.org.
