COLLEGE PARK – The LaGrange Grangers are back at .500 after walking away with a pair of wins in the War Eagle Classic at Woodward Academy.

After opening with a 77-49 victory over Elite Scholars Academy on Friday, LaGrange overwhelmed Lovett 57-40 on Saturday to even its record at 5-5.

The Grangers will look to keep the good times rolling on Thursday when they begin play in the LaGrange Toyota Classic.

“We feel our team really got a lot better this week,” LaGrange head coach Mark Veal said. “We’re pleased with the direction we’re going. We’re starting to flow better. We still have some kinks we’ve got to iron out and get better with, but it’s nice to go into Christmas break with two wins, on a little bit of a streak. Hopefully when we start the Classic, we’ll continue the momentum going.”

In the win over Lovett, Vondez Taylor led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points, and Jordan Ogletree and Jakobe Jones added 13 and nine points, respectively.

LaGrange outscored Lovett 19-9 in the fourth quarter to turn a close game into a blowout.

“We had some stretches where we played really well,” Veal said. “We had a stretch in the third quarter where we struggled, but all in all, we played good.”
