Helping the LPD solve the case

The LaGrange Police Department is asking for the public’s help in a homicide that took place on Troup Street during the weekend.

Niko Hurston, 18, was shot and killed in the incident, which took place just two days before Christmas. There’s never a good time to lose a loved one, but it’s even more difficult during the holiday season.

There are many unanswered questions that the LPD is working through, including a motive for the shooting and whether there’s more to the story than what’s currently known. We’re sure through good investigative work, many of those answers will come to light in the days and weeks ahead.

On Christmas Eve, the LPD sent out images of the suspect’s  vehicle, which looks like a white Honda Accord, but at the time of this writing, no arrests have been made.

The LPD is asking for the public’s help in solving this case, and we hope anyone with information will step forward. Hurston’s family deserves to know what happened and the person or persons responsible should be off the streets and in a jail cell waiting fortheir time in court.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

We urge anyone with information about this incident — even if you don’t think it’s helpful — to call the LPD at (706) 883-2603, or Troup County Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.
