The LaGrange Lady Grangers surged past Morrow 46-37 in the opening round of a holiday tournament at Woodland High in Stockbridge.

If LaGrange wins its second-round game today, it would play for the tournament championship on Saturday.

LaGrange led 8-7 after the first quarter, and it was ahead 21-14 at the half.

LaGrange was ahead 33-26 after three quarters, and it held on for the nine-point win.

Zaria Russell led LaGrange with 13 points, and Kamelah Kelley added 12 points.

Quay Borinson and Carmen McGhee got it done on the boards with 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.
