The LaGrange Lady Grangers are still chasing their first region win of the season.

After close losses to Central-Carroll and Cedartown to begin its Region 5-AAAA schedule, LaGrange fell to home-standing Cartersville 50-44 on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s game was close throughout, and Cartersville’s A’mya Davis made four free throws in the final 13 seconds to seal the win.

Zaria Russell led LaGrange with 16 points, and she was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Chaquave’ayr Robinson added 12 points, and Blair Herrod scored 10 points, with six of those points coming in the fourth quarter.

London Shaw led Cartersville with 16 points.

LaGrange (8-8 overall) will seek a breakthrough region win when it hosts Troup on Friday.

LaGrange finishes the week with Saturday’s game at Sandy Creek.
