Mrs. Betty Jean Ussery Cavender

Betty Jean Ussery Cavender, 70, of LaGrange, Georgia, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at her daughter’s home.

Mrs. Cavender was born Nov. 3, 1948, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Doyle “Buck” Hopson Ussery and Marie Mabell Railey Ussery. She dedicated her life to raising her children and tending to the needs of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Cavender; brother, Norman Ussery; sisters, Joann Ussery and Janice Rush; nephew, Chance Ussery; and sister-in-law, Janice Ussery.

 Betty Jean lived her life around her love of children. She assisted in the raising of all the nieces, nephews, foster children and extended family friends.

Survivors include her children, William (April) Cavender, Amanda (Joseph) Beesley, Andrea Lynn Cavender (Jakob Ranew) and Christopher William Cavender; grandchildren, Alexis (Lee) Henson, Will Cavender, Khloe Cavender, Jacob Beesley and Emily Beesley; great grandchild, Charlee Henson; siblings, Horace Ussery, Doyle (Melba) Ussery, Albert (Alice) Ussery, Vernon (Denise) Ussery, Patricia McRae and Rhonda Griffin; sister-in-law, Jonna Ussery; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. The celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Longshore officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
