Mr. Shelby Eugene Smith, 65, of LaGrange passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Florence Hand Home. Shelby was born Jan. 21, 1953, in LaGrange the son of the late Arthur Eugene “Gene” and Marian Ruth Bray Smith. Shelby was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and will be remembered as always showing unconditional love to everyone he met.

Survivors include his loving sisters and brother-in-laws, Kathy French and her husband Mark French of LaGrange, Georgia; Robin Koone and her husband, Steve Koone, of Pine Mountain, Georgia; nieces, Pat Holcomb, Laura French (Daniel), Heather Slaughter (Steven); nephew, Jeremy Koone; several great nieces and nephews, Shelby Renee Holcomb, Whitley Holcomb, Ridge Hicks and Rance Hicks; lifelong friend, Donna Pike; and caregivers Judy Fletcher, Kay Bray and Linda Burdette

Funeral services for Shelby will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, from the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with The Rev. Anthony Hovey officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot in Ridgeway Cemetery in Heard County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family respectfully will accept flowers but those so desiring may make contributions to Troup County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 4469 LaGrange, Georgia 30241 in memory of Shelby Smith.
