Callaway wins at Temple

TEMPLE – The Callaway Cavaliers ran their winning streak to four games with Tuesday’s 54-49 road win over Temple.

Callaway (7-8 overall) improved to 6-1 in Region 5-AA and remained one game behind Spencer.

Demetrius Coleman led Callaway wit 22 points, Javontay Boddie scored 14 points, and Antinez Blount added 12 points.

The Cavaliers started quickly and led 20-14 after the first quarter, but they went cold from the field in the second quarter, and their lead was down to 24-19 at the half.

Callaway’s lead was down to three by the end of the third quarter, and it outscored Temple 14-12 in the fourth quarter to win by five.

In the girls’ game, Kierra Jackson had a huge night to lift Callaway to a 52-48 win.

Callaway (8-8 overall) improved to 5-2 in the region while winning for the sixth time in seven games.

Kierra Jackson not only scored a game-high 22 points, but she also pulled down 17 rebounds.

Jasmine Dukes added 12 points for Callaway.

Callaway will host rival Heard County on Friday in a region doubleheader.
