Gwinell Swanson, 96, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at her home.

 Mrs. Swanson was born Feb. 24, 1922, in East Point, to the late Gwin Lipes and Fannie Mae Schell. She was a member of First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange. Mrs. Swanson was formerly employed with Callaway Mills and was retired from First Federal Savings and Loans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Swanson and a granddaughter, Angela Woodson.

Survivors include her daughter, Joan and Nick Woodson; grandchildren, Chris and Phyllis Woodson, Allison and Nate Strickland, LeAnn and Chris Squier; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, other relatives; and her caretaker, Anita Flowers.

The gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at First Baptist Church on the Square with Pastor Cade Farris, Dr. Paul Baxter and the Rev. Paul Blair officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
