COLUMBUS – The Callaway Lady Cavaliers ran their winning streak to four with Tuesday’s 88-59 road win over Spencer.

Callaway (10-8 overall) remained in second place in Region 5-AA with a 6-2 record.

Senior Qua Beasley had a big night for Callaway with 19 points, and she was 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Kierra Jackson, who hit the game-winning shot in Tuesday’s home win over Heard County, added 15 points.

Gabrielle Johnson made two 3-pointers and scored 12 points, and Camryn Stargell added nine points.

In the boys’ game, Spencer started quickly and never looked back on the way to a 110-74 victory.

Spencer was ahead 33-16 after the first quarter, and it led 63-27 at the half.

The Cavaliers exploded for 32 points of their own in the third quarter, but they were unable to make a meaningful dent in the deficit.

“I told them it was one of those days,” Callaway head coach Terry Hayes said. “We played bad the first half. We did better in the second half, but it was too deep a hole.”

Antinez Blount led Callaway with 25 points, and he made four 3-pointers.

Demetrius Coleman added 23 points while making 7-of-8 free-throw attempts, and Javontay Boddie scored 11 points.

Callaway’s teams will visit Valley on Friday before returning to region play with Saturday’s games at Bremen.
