Troup falls short at Sandy Creek

COLLEGE PARK – The Troup Tigers led after the first quarter, but Sandy Creek took control from there on the way to a 73-43 victory.

The Tigers (12-8 overall) fell to 4-4 in Region 5-AAAA, and they’re in second place with four games to go..

Isaiah Cox was Troup’s leading scorer with nine points, and JaQuavo McFarland added eight points.

In the girls’ game, Troup was unable to keep pace with Sandy Creek on the way to a 56-43 loss.

Amber Gilbert led the Lady Tigers with 21 points, and she was 9-of-11 on free-throw attempts.

Aniya Palmer added 12 points, and Jada Green scored six points.

Troup has lost two in a row, and it has fallen to third place in the region with a 5-3 record.

Troup’s teams will look to get back on track on Saturday against rival LaGrange.
