Mr. Richard Austin Belcher, age 30, of LaGrange, passed away on Feb. 7, 2019, at the Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Hospital.

He joins his beloved mother, Susan in heaven, just a few days after her passing.  A joint service of celebration to remember the lives of Austin and Susan will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at the First Baptist Church on the Square at 2 p.m. with Pastor Cade Farris and the Rev. Paul Blair officiating. Family will receive friends in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church on Friday beginning at noon.

Austin was born on April 21, 1988, in Opelika, Alabama to Richard (Rick) Belcher and Susan Bell Belcher. His infectious smile, joyful sense of humor, and humble spirit through many of life’s difficulties have inspired many. Austin was an active and integral part of the First Baptist Church on the Square. Before his accident in 2004, he played the bass guitar in youth and church-wide worship services. After his remarkable recovery, he freely shared his testimony of what the Lord had done for him.

In addition to his father Rick, he is survived by his sister, Laura Savage; brothers, Michael Belcher (Stacie) and Matthew Belcher (Heather); nieces and nephews, extended family and countless friends.
