Mrs. Carol Cromartie Alvis

Carol Cromartie Alvis, 71, of LaGrange, formerly of Nashville, died suddenly Sunday Feb. 3, 2019 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

She was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Coffee County to the late Hugh Esten Cromartie and the late Johnnie Long Cromartie. She was a licensed insurance agent with Life of the South in Nashville. When she moved to LaGrange, she became an active member of First Baptist Church on the Square and for many years served as church secretary. She was loved, adored and cherished by her grandchildren and she will always be their “CeCe”.

She is survived by her husband: Tom Alvis of LaGrange; two daughters: Angie (Rob) Lovein of Nashville and Margo (Steven) Mathis of Nashville; three sons, Craig (Wendy) McCorvey of Glennville, Dwayne (Julie) Alvis of Norcross and Scott (Laura) Alvis of Norcross; sister, Joy Cromartie of Douglas; 11 grandchildren, Carson McCorvey, Tripp Lovein, Riley McCorvey, Caroline Lovein, Mattie Mae Mathis, Rowan Mathis, Mary Alvis, Sarah Alvis, Matthew Alvis, Andrew Alvis and Bennett Alvis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Addington and the Rev. Paul Blair officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashville Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Thursday one hour prior to the service. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange. Flowers will be accepted or memorials to the First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange.
