Mrs. Susan Bell Belcher, of LaGrange, was born on June 16, 1957, in Thomasville, Alabama to Sam Parsons and Marie Bell.

During her life, she was the definition of dignity, poise, and grace. Susan’s faith and trust in Jesus Christ and God’s word gave her the endurance to persevere through every challenge. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength. The love that she gave to her family was a tremendous example to everyone.

Her care for her husband, Rick, and especially for her son, Austin, left an indelible mark upon all who knew her. Susan loved First Baptist Church on the Square and worked tirelessly as the lead ministry assistant in the church office. She was fully committed to the music ministry and sang many years in the adult choir, praise team and the ladies’ ensemble, Faithful Hearts. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Susan was a true servant and was always willing to help others with a smile. Her beauty and grace will never be forgotten. On Feb. 2, 2019, she was welcomed into her heavenly home.

In addition to her father, Sam Parson (Francis), her mother, Marie Newton (Ramon), she is survived by her husband, Rick Belcher; daughter, Laura Savage; brothers, Ronald Parsons (Hyong), Jerry Bell (Annette); sisters, Damita Davis (Dwight), Amanda Smathers (Mike); grandchildren, Olivia, Noah and Paisley; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Parsons (Marie).

Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist on the Square with Pastor Cade Farris and the Rev. Paul Blair officiating.  Family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at noon. Susan’s son, Austin Belcher, was also involved in the tragic automobile accident and passed away on Feb. 7, 2019.  The service above will be a combined service honoring the lives of Susan and Austin.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church on the Square, 100 Broad Street, LaGrange, 30240.
