Mr. Vinson Richard “Rent” Williams

Mr. Vinson Richard “Rent” Williams, 85, of LaGrange, GA died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Williams was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Wedowee, Alabama, son of the late Sanford Oliver Williams and Lizzie Lou Bradley Williams.  He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and was active in the choir. Mr. Williams was the owner of Mayfield-Williams Home Furnishings. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.  Mr. Williams enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, country music, and football.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Trent Ferguson, and two brothers, Oliver F. Williams and Johnny C. Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Mayfield Williams; children, Beth (Ken) Smith, Carol (Tim) Ferguson, and Amy (Shane) Taylor; grandchildren; Buffy (Chris) Dekmar, Sally (Hace) Cargo; Molly (Matt) Parker, Mary Beth (Toby) Scott, Cami Ferguson, Anna Jo Taylor and Macy Taylor; great grandchildren, Smith, Rent, Clifton and Mac; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Rosemont Baptist Church with the Rev. Adam Camp and the Rev. Max McCord officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.  The gathering of family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Rosemont Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Legacy Project at Rosemont Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Rent Williams.
