The Callaway Cavaliers, who have played one complete game in the past two weeks, will get a chance to knock some of the rust off on Saturday.

Callaway (3-1), which lost to Bowdon 4-3 last week, will play two games at Upson-Lee on Saturday.

Callaway will play host Upson-Lee at 11 a.m., and it will face Harris County at 1:30 p.m.

Callaway beat Heritage 6-3 on Feb. 13 to improve to 6-3, and it has finished one game since then.

Callaway and Troup were in the fourth inning when the game was called because of weather concerns.

Upson-Lee has dropped two consecutive games to fall to 2-3, while Harris County is riding high with a 5-1 record.

Harris County stayed hot with a 4-1 home win over Troup last week.

Callaway will  play road games against Brookstone and LaGrange next week before opening Region 5-AA play against Bremen on March 12.

Callaway won the region championship last season before reaching the state semifinals.

Bremen figures to be one of the primary challengers to Callaway for region supremacy.

“Playing those four games, hopefully we’ll have a better idea (of what we have) going to Bremen,” Callaway head coach Dusty Hubbard said.

TENNIS: LaGrange has traveled to the Georgia coast for the Jekyll Jam, and the tournament has been shortened to one day.

The tournament was supposed to begin on Friday, but play was canceled because of rain.

Last year, LaGrange’s boys team finished third in the tournament with a 2-1 record, while the girls’ team went 1-2 and placed fourth.
