A trio of students at Unity Preparatory Academy of West Georgia have earned an opportunity to play football on the next level.

Darius Copeland (Allen University), Jeff Bray (Community Christian College) and Taevion Harton (Texas College) have each signed a letter of intent to play football in college.

Copeland, who was a big-play wide receiver for Unity Prep last season, said “it means a lot” to get this chance considering his history with injuries.

Copeland is heading to Allen University in Columbia, S.C.

“I was on the injury list my 10th-grade year,” Copeland said. “I had to sit out for a couple of years. So to be able to have somebody still show interest in me, it means a lot. They saw something in me. With all the work I’ve put in on and off the field, it really means a lot.”

After the injury, Copeland focused on making sure he came back at 100 percent.

“I knew what I had to do,” he said. “It wasn’t about anybody else, it was about me, and how far I can go.”

As for the college experience, Copeland said “I get to discover who I want to be for the rest of my life.”

Bray is going to Redlands, Calif. to play football at Community Christian College.

Signing day was a special moment for Bray, who uses the memory of his father as motivation.

“It means a lot,” Bray said. “My pops passed away, and I just want to make him proud, and accomplish all the goals I’ve set for myself. I just want to make my pops and my family proud.”

Bray is eager to show what he can do as his new school in California.

“I get to take my talents to the next level, and show what I’ve got,” Bray said.

Harton will head to the Long Star State to play for Texas College.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Harton said. “I’m just ready to go.”
