WEST POINT — A LaGrange man was arrested by Wednesday on charges relating to a January home invasion in West Point. 

Quintavius Brewer, 18, was charged with home invasion first-degree, two counts of aggravated assault with a gun, possession of a firearm during certain felonies and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to arrest reports. 

West Point Police Department Investigator Ann Okeson said the arrest was tied to a Jan. 11 home invasion when officers and agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations responded to an address on Sixth Avenue. At the time, it was determined that three individuals entered the home with weapons and attempted to rob the residence. There was one person hurt, but he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and Okeson said it was not from a gunshot wound. 

On Thursday, Okeson said the investigation said there were four individuals involved in the home invasion. Okeson said Brewer was arrested after he went to the hospital claiming he was shot. She said whenever a person goes to the hospital with a gunshot wound, the hospital is put on lockdown and law enforcement is notified. 

Okeson said three other individuals — Marquaveous Harris, 19, of LaGrange, Corey Cia Spratling and Qunitez Bailey are also wanted for their involvement. Spratling and Bailey have not been apprehended and are currently wanted by the WPPD. 

Harris is currently in Troup County Jail for charges involving an incident in Newnan and LaGrange 11 days after the alleged home invasion. At the moment, he is facing charges of concealing the death of another person and two counts of participation in a criminal street gang for an incident in late January where a person was found dead in his vehicle in LaGrange. 

In that case, officers from the LaGrange Police Department found Malenko Cooley, 18, dead in his vehicle in the early hours of Jan. 22 from a gunshot wound to the chest. LPD said Cooley had been reported missing from Valley the previous Monday. 

A news release at the time said the LPD and the NPD determined Cooley was shot and killed during an armed robbery and aggravated assault in Newnan the previous Sunday morning. Police said Harris and Cooley went to an apartment complex to ask a resident to conceal a firearm, but the resident felt he was going to be robbed, so a physical altercation ensued between the resident and Cooley. 

During the fight, Harris fired his pistol at the resident, and it was reported Cooley was shot during the altercation but was able to get up and run from the scene. Police say the person at the apartment was also shot several times in the abdomen and was flown to an Atlanta hospital. He survived. 

Newnan Deputy Chief Mark Cooper said Harris has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery in Coweta County.
