It was a stress-free afternoon for the Callaway baseball team.

Callaway, in the first of three games against Temple this week, eased to a 14-1 home victory on Tuesday to even its Region 5-AA record at 2-2.

The scene shifts to Temple for a doubleheader on Friday.

Temple scored a run in the top of the first inning on Tuesday to take the early lead, but the rest of the game belonged to Callaway.

Already leading 8-1, Callaway put six runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning to cap the scoring.

The top three men in Callaway’s lineup combined for seven hits, seven RBIs, and seven runs scored.

Braelin Mitchell did a lot of the damage with two hits, including a three-run home run.

Bledsoe, hitting in the number two spot in the order, had three hits and four RBIs, and he had a pair of doubles.

Drake Wade, the leadoff hitter, had a triple, a single and a walk, and he scored three runs.

Zach Neighbors added a two-run double, freshman Andrew Lock had a hit and an RBI while making his first start of the season, Austin Cardwell drove in a run, and Jabari Smith had a hit.

Jabari Smith was Callaway’s starting pitcher, and he was terrific, holding Temple to one run one two hits with five strikeouts. Bledsoe got the first two outs of the fifth inning, and Aden Brooks induced a double-play ball on the only pitch he threw to finish it.
