Mrs. Annie Kate Carrington

Mrs. Annie Kate Carrington, age 94 ½, passed away on March 19, 2019, at the Twin Fountains Home. Mrs. Carrington was born on May 1, 1924, in Heard County to the late James Woody Shelnutt and Ruby Inez Pike Shelnutt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Burrell King, Jr., her second husband of 41 years, Charlie Lee Carrington, a sister, Inez Fincher and a niece, Sherrell West. 

Mrs. Carrington worked for Callaway Mills and assisted her husband in the garbage collection business, the coal business and a produce truck business. She was a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church, a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church Choir and a member of the Golden Joy Club. 

 Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jeanell King of LaGrange; daughter, Carolyn Jackson of Canton, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jeffery Jackson (Julie), Tammy Lisa Langley (Chris), Tammy Michelle King Worley (Dwane) and Crystal Lynn King Blankenship (Byron); great grandchildren, Kimberlee Paige Jackson, Colton Lee Jackson, Jeff Wayne Clark, Daniel Steven Bardwell, Michael Chalk, Hunter Lane Jester, Cheyenne Nicole Jester, Cody Alexander Worley, Mary Grace Worley, Mikayla Leeann Blankenship and Troy Preston Blankenship; nephew, Charles Fincher; cousins, June Echols and Jackie Neighbors; housebound caregivers, Florence Raglin, Tiny McMullins, Francine Nelson, Amy Nelson, Cookie Ray, Sandra Baker, Gretta Porter, Melanie Hill, Mary Foster, the Staff’s of Twin Fountains Home and WellStar West Georgia Hospice. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Hovey and the Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery. Family receive friends on Friday from noon until service hour at the funeral home.
