Café Detour has been slowly building a following in the six months that it has been open, and on Tuesday, it likely gained a few new customers as chamber members browsed its menu before the restaurant’s ribbon cutting.

Café Detour serves everything from pastries to hamburgers to ramen, with a menu that blends American favorites with Japanese cuisine. The ribbon cutting on Tuesday celebrated the restaurant’s membership with the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. The restaurant’s grand opening was in September.

“We are just grateful that you are offering your magic to our community and we enjoy your hospitality and all your delicious items,” said Martha Pirkle, vice chair of member engagement for the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. “People are coming and meeting here and making [themselves at] home in your place. Thank you for opening your doors and making everyone feel so welcome.”

Several of the chamber members in attendance noted that while they had not been to the restaurant near the hospital before, they planned to return.

“I have heard wonderful things from everyone who has visited you and loved it,” said Marlene Rhodes, secretary and treasurer for the chamber.

“We are so lucky to have you here. Thank you for sharing your talent and giving us yummy things.”

Café Detour is located at 1521 Vernon Road. It is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
